REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo received the President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), Sheikh Ahmad Fahad Al Sabah, at the Merdeka Palace on Tuesday.

"Two issues were discussed at the meeting between the President and OCA President. One of them dealt with preparations for the Asian Games in 2018," the Chief of the Indonesian Olympiad Committee (KOI), Rita Subowo, said following the meeting.

Youth and Sports Minister Imam Nahrowi also accompanied the President at the meeting, Subowo said.

Subowo said preparations for the Asian Games were progressing well.

"Mr. President also briefed the OCA President on Indonesia's preparations for the event. What is important is that in 2017 there will be a test event, the Asian Youth Games, which will allow athletes aged less than 18 years to take part in matches," he said.

The logo, mascot and other aspects of the games were being readied and the Youth and Sports Ministry would take the lead in completing them, Subowo said.

OCA President Sheikh Ahmad Fahad Al Sabah said he was satisfied with the commitments and preparations made by the Indonesian government.

He was also satisfied with the progress made at different venues for the Asian Games 2018's matches in Indonesia," he said.
