REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MATARAM -- Provincial Agriculture Office of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) said there were 876 hectares of harvest failures due to drought. It divided into some areas, 414.00 hectares of rice fields, 86.00 hectares of corn fields, and 376.00 hectares of soybeans. The total area of drought until 18th August reached 5108.30 hectares.
“Number of failed harvest in 2015 was lower than in 2014, which reached 18.679 hectares with fuso that reached 4,408 hectares,” said Head of Agriculture Office of NTB, Husnul Fauzi, in Mataram, Saturday (22/8).
He said that realization of rice fields that were affected by drought was 0.86 percent with fuso by 0.09 percent. Realization of corn fields was 0.49 percent with fuso by 0.06 percent. Realization of soybean fields was 0.67 percent with fuso by 0,52 percent.
The areas that were affected by drought were in Kuripan, West Lombok; in Pemenang and Kayangan North Lombok; in Praya, Central Praya, East Praya, Southwestern Praya, Central Lombok; in Sikur, East Lombok.
While the drought areas in Sumbawa were in Buer, Labangka, Lopok, Maronge, North Moyo, Plampang and Utan. West Sumbawa were in Jereweh, Pototano, Sekongkang, Brang Rea, Seteluk, Taliwang. Dompu were in Huu, Kempo, Manggelewe, Dompu, Woja, Pajo. Milky Belo. Palibelo, Bolo, Lambu, Langgudu, Monta, Palibelo, Parado, Sape, Wawo, Wera, Woha.
Husnul added, the realization of rice planting in July was as much as 450,705 hectares with 447,489 hectares of crop plan. The realization of corn planting was as much as 137,513 hectares with 135,000 hectares of crop plan. The realization of soybean planting 93,114 hectares with 72,854 hectares.
"For rice fields in August and September, there will be area of 12,226 hectares added," he said.
