REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PADANG -- Vice President Jusuf Kalla inspected the construction of Indarung VI cement plant in West Sumatra as part of his visit to the province on Sunday.
Kalla said cement producer PT Semen Padang which builds the cement plant is one of the growing manufacturing industries in the country.
"There is nothing to worry about marketing as everybody needs cement and steel to build houses. What is important is that it must operate efficiently to win competition," he said.
He expressed hope that PT Semen Padang would continue to grow along with increasing demand for cement to build infrastructure.
PT Semen Padang President Director Benny Wendry said the company commenced the construction of Indarung VI cement plant on May 26, 2014.
The physical construction of the Rp3.8 trillion project which currently reached 58.40 percent was scheduled for completion in the fourth quarter of 2016, he said.
He said the construction of the project involved state-owned construction companies including PT Waskita Karya, PT Adhi Karya, PT Nindya Karya, PT Pembangunan Perumahan, PT Wijaya Karya Konstruksi, PT Barata Indonesia and private building contractor PT Bukaka Teknik Utama.
He said PT Semen Padang applied a concept of green industry to build the cement plant by treating waste water from Indarung II, III, IV and V cement plants for Indarung VI cement plant.
