REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BOGOR -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has highlighted the importance of having a common vision in dealing with the current economic slowdown in Indonesia.
"We need to have a common vision and equal compliance to cope with the economic slowdown. We must also ensure that no one deviates from the given plan," President Jokowi stated during a coordination meeting on accelerating development programs at the Bogor Palace here on Monday.
The president also remarked that the economic slowdown is not only being experienced in Indonesia but also in almost all other countries.
"We are aware of the current economic slowdown, but we are not alone. Other countries too are facing the same problem," the president noted.
Jokowi explained that the economic slowdown in Indonesia is the impact of the Greek crisis that occurred a few months ago, the hike in the United States' interest rates, and the depreciation of the Yuan in China coupled with the escalating tensions between South and North Korea.
On the occasion, the president emphasized the role of the nation in realizing a just and prosperous society.
"This can be realized if we achieve good economic growth, which is sustained by the state budget, regional budget, state-owned enterprises, and private sector investment.
Jokowi held the coordination meeting with the governor, chief of Police, and the chiefs of prosecutor's offices across Indonesia.
