REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALU -- The Sail Tomini 2015 event will not only reflect maritime and cultural values, but also Islamic values, the Rector of the State Institute of Islamic Studies (IAIN), Prof. Dr H Zainal Abidin said.
"The event will reinforce human relations and build a common perception about the cultivation of maritime and cultural potential in this region. This is one of the values of Islam," the IAIN Rector said on Tuesday.
He said the Sail Tomini 2015 event would also bring together not only people from a certain ethnic group, or religion, but also thousands of visitors from various ethnic groups and from different religions, even people from different nations.
Abidin, who is also the chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) for Palu city, added that Sail Tomini was not only a ceremonial event held to promote maritime and cultural potential, but also an occasion that celebrated and nurtured religious harmony.
"This is one of the Islamic values, or is in line with the Islamic values," he said.
