REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesia was elected as a member of world education commission. Indonesia also became the only Asian country that is included in the Global Commission On Education Financing.

Minister of Education and Culture, Anies Baswedan, said the education commission was formed as the results of the world education summit. The summit took place in Oslo, Norway, last week.

Indonesia will be joined with other member of commission, namely Malawi, Norway, Chile, and Director General of UNESCO. UNESCO will also work together with Indonesia in developing the world of education, because education is the main agenda of world development.

“The Commission is led by former British Prime Minister, Gordon Brown,” said Anies in Jakarta, Friday (28/8).

However, the goal of the education commission is to make education as a key development of the world for the next 15 years. There are a variety of educational challenges faced by each country.
