BNN to thwart four kilograms 'shabu-shabu' smuggling

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The National Narcotics Agency (BNN) thwarted smuggling of four kilograms of narcotics types methamphetamine. The smuggling was conducted by two suspects in Kampung Beting, Pontianak, West Kalimantan.

"There are two suspects, namely S a.k.a Boy, men aged 40 and J a.k.a Jali aged 35 years. They were acted as a courier and were arrested by BNN with four kilograms narcotics as evidence, on Monday, 24th August," said Head of Public Relations BNN, Commissioner Pol Slamet Pribadi, Sunday, (30/8).

Before arresting S and J, BNN officers received a public report, that there would be shipping a package suspected of narcotics. BNN officers immediately conducted an investigation and monitoring an forwarding service and then arresting J.

After the package was opened, the officers found four iron pipes, where the shabu-shabu were hidden. The 1,351.7 grams of shabu-shabu were wrapped in two plastics. Based on the description of the suspects, the methamphetamine was originated from China, to be shipped to Pontianak, West Kalimantan.

Afterwards the BNN officers arrested S, who ordered S  to bring the drug package. On the same day, the officers also seized other similar packages in different forwarding services.

"The officers re-seized the package and found some metal pipe, containing methamphetamine, weighing 2,704 grams," said Slamet.

In addition to the above evidences, the officers also seized a sheet receipt of package with number SA15082140, five mobile phones, and two ATM of the two suspects.

For his actions, the two suspects were charged under article 114 paragraph (2) and article 112 (2) Jo article 132 paragraph (1) of the Constitution Law No. 35 of 2009 on Narcotics with maximum threat of death or life imprisonment.
