REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Leading economist Hendri Saparini said President Joko (Jokowi) Widodo agrees that there is need yet to take emergency option of using foreign loan to stabilize rupiah against the U.S. dollar.
"We agreed that it is not yet necessary to use emergency instruments," Saparini said after a meeting with the president here on Monday.
Samarini and a number of leading economists were summoned to the palace to give their advice how to cope with the economic problem faced by the country.
According to her utilizing bilateral relations and borrowing fund from multilateral agencies is an instrument not yet used by the government to increase dollar supply in the country.
But it is not yet needed by Indonesia, she quoted the president as saying.
"According to the president there are still many other options that could be used to optimize the domestic resources, she said.
Indonesia "is not in a very bad condition" as it still posted positive growth and has the potential to grow.
