REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA --- President of Confederation of Indonesian Trade Unions (KSPI), Said Iqbal, conveyed that thousands of Indonesian workers were affected by Indonesian economic slowdown. The current economic condition caused termination of employment (layoff) by industrial companies.

"The weakening of rupiah gives pressure to industrial companies. Local content is still around 40 percent and the rest is imported raw materials that was bought with dollars,” he added.
Currently, the world market was sluggish, so that exported goods were rarely bought. The impact will be on the threat of workers layoffs.
