REPUBLIKA.CO.ID,JAKARTA -- Minister of Foreign Affairs, Retno LP Marsudi, said 11 bodies of Indonesian immigrant, victims of boat sinks in Sabak Berenam, Selangor, Malaysia, were repatriated to their home.
"This morning, 11 bodies are ready to be repatriated. Six bodies will be returned to Aceh, three bodies will be returned to Medan, and two bodies will be returned to East Java," said Retno, in Jakarta, Tuesday (8/9).
According to Retno, previously, seven bodies of victims of boat sinks had arrived in Indonesia and were sent back to their home. Four bodies were repatriated to Medan and three bodies were repatriated to Surabaya.
"We have obtained confirmation that the bodies of victims had been received by the family. Repatriation of the bodies to their families was carried out by ministry and the local government. According to the information we got from the Malaysian rescue team, the number of dead victims were 62 people and the survivors were 20 people," she explained.
Retno said that Indonesian Disaster Victim Identification (DVI) team have left to Malaysia and has been communicating with Malaysian DVI team to work together in process of identification.
"The current DVI team will focus on identifying victims through DNA samples," she added.
