REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, ABU DHABI -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) invited investors from Middle East, especially the United Arab Emirates to engage in Indonesia national investment projects.

"We understand that our infrastructures are left behind, therefore we must begin to build and develop the infrastructures and give an influence of medium and long term development," said Jokowi while attending a business and investment forum in Abu Dhabi, Sunday (14/9) afternoon.

The President said there were a number of national infrastructure projects that can be entered by investors from various countries. He said Indonesia was currently concentrating on the development of infrastructure in the form of 24 seaports, 15 new airports, toll roads along 1,000 km, 2,600 km interprovincial roads, and 49 power stations.

"We also develop mass transportation in 23 major cities," Jokowi added.

With the construction of a number of projects, then Indonesia will be manufacturing-based of industrial state. To simplify the bureaucracy of economic development, Indonesian government launched a program package of 21 billion dollars for infrastructure projects, but it still requires an investment from the private sector.

Jokowi hoped, with the closeness between the United Arab Emirates and Indonesia, the cooperation can be more developed. UAE Minister of Economy, Sultan bin Saeed Al Mansouri, said that Indonesia with all its potential is an attractive investment destination.

"Indonesia also has appeal for tours, this meeting is expected to be a window for investment and improvement of relations between the two countries," he said.
