REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) celebrated its 70 anniversary in National Museum, Jakarta, Thursday (17/9).
The 70th anniversary of PMI with the theme "70 Years PMI for Humanity and Independence" was held in 10th to 17th September 2015. The theme was to remind PMI as an important part of Republic of Indonesia since the days of independence until today.
The commemoration was attended by Vice Presiden Jusuf Kalla, who is also chairman of PMI. In the event, there were history exhibition and the launch of the stamps of 70th anniversary of the Indonesian Red Cross.
70th years of PMI stamp series were made in two designs, namely pictorial PMI headquarters building of the past and the figure of the first PMI Chairman, Muhammad Hatta.
In the exhibition, PMI also showed historical photos of the establishment of PMI in the period of 1945 to 1950, the growth of PMI in the period of 1950 to 1980, and the present period in 1980 to present.
Historical objects and equipment used in the past by PMI also be displayed, such as the blood processing machine, bottles for blood sampling, evacuation stretcher, clothing volunteers, and so on.
