The Director General of the Hajj and Minor Hajj organization at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Abdul Djamil said the bodies had been identified from among around 500 bodies kept at a morgue in Moeasim.

"We had to examine each one to determine if it was an Indonesian, for which purpose we checked their ihrams (Hajj costume) to see if they had Indonesian text written on them. If we did not find it, we then cross-checked with the chiefs of flight groups," he stated.

A total of 112 Indonesia pilgrims are reported missing from their camps after the incident.

"We are still seeking their complete data accurately," the Director General said.

He said the Indonesian Hajj pilgrimage committee members in the field are also collaborating with the Indonesian Consulate General officials in Jeddah.

"The Consulate General officials have access to the concerned offices in Saudi Arabia," he added.

He further said that the pilgrims could have possibly returned to their hotels and lodgings after the incident.

"Some group leaders said some pilgrims might have been lost or were unable to find their way back to their camps," he said.
