REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DUMAI -- Dumai official, Arlizman Agus, stated that the construction of railways of Trans Sumatera will begin in October 2015, with the laying of the first stone in the Purnama village, Dumai, Riau. It was scheduled to be done by President Joko Widodo.

"The government is very serious to build this railway. The laying of the first stone will be done by President Jokowi, in the next October," Arlizman said, Monday (29/9).

He explained that the construction of railway for mass transit access, was funded entirely by the central government and managers with third parties. While local governments were only required lands or a places for the construction of the railway.

"The construction of the railways is concentrated in Purnama village, West Dumai. Local government is ready to support the implementation of this national project," he added.

The construction of this railways aimed to support the maritime sector. It also became one mass transportation in Sumatra for the benefit of the public, including the business community.

This construction was considered as one of the accelerated implementation of mass transportation access. He hoped this project can run smoothly without any obstacles, so that it can facilitate future access to public transport and support  economic growth of the region.
