REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- A resident was reportedly killed by gunfire in clashes and church burning in Aceh Singkil, Tuesday (13/10). National Police Chief, Gen. Badrodin Haiti suspected that the people who died was shot by a water gun.
"I think this is not an air rifle, but airgun. However, we'll check it again forensic lab," said Badrodin at his official residence in South Jakarta, Tuesday (13/10).
Badrodin said, in addition to one people who was dead, the clashes that were involving around 700 people were also injured several people. From recent information, Badrodin revealed that there were four people injured.
"One of the injured people was a Member of TNI, named S. The TNI member suffered broken teeth," added Badrodin.
Earlier, clashes between residents in Aceh Singkil was began from an attack to house of worship. It was because the residents disagreed on the construction of 21 churches that did not have permission.
The residents and the local government then met and held a discussion in order to reach an agreement. There was a deal that the execution of demolition would be carried out on Monday (19/10) next week.
However, there were groups of people who did not accept the deal. They said that people who participated in discussion with the local government were not representative of people who disagreed of the construction of 21 churches that did not have permission. Thus, this group of people burned the church that causing clashes.
