REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MAGETAN -- As many as five climbers of Mount Lawu in East Java died after being trapped in forest fires that hit the slopes of the mountain over the last few weeks, according to a witness.
"We received information that five climbers were burned to death (on Mount Lawu). It is possible that they caught fire at the slopes of Mount Lawu, a volunteer of Anak Gunung Lawu (AGL), Agus, told the press here on Sunday.
Personnel of the Search and Rescue (SAR) team have been evacuating bodies of the climbers, Agus pointed out.
According to Agus, one of the victims, identified as Eko Nurhadi who suffered from injuries, has been rushed to the Sayidiman Magetan hospital.
Forest on the slop of Mount Lawu caught fire in the last two weeks.
