REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, PALEMBANG -- The number of hotspots in South Sumatra rose to 530 spots. Two days earlier, the hotspots were only 163 spots.

"Based on the monitoring via satellite, today the number of hotspots in South Sumatra were detected in 16 cities," said Head of Data and Information of Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) of South Sumatra, Indra Purnama, in Palembang, Wednesday (21/10).

The most hotspots were detected in Ogan Komering Ilir as much as 356 hotspots, Musirawas as much as 50 hotspots, and Musi Banyuasin as much as 35 hotspots. Musi Banyuasin previously had most number of hotspots in South Sumatra.

Then hotspots were also detected in Banyuasin with 34 hotspots, Lahat with13 hotspots, North Musirawas with 11 hotspots, Ogan Komering Ulu with 10 hotspots, Muaraenim with eight hotspots, Empat Lawang with five hotspots, and East Ogan Komering Ulu and Ogan Ilir with two hotspots.

"While, less hotspots were detected in Palembang, Prabumulih, Pagaralam, South Ogan Komering Ulu, and Pali, with only one hotspot," he added.
