REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian mixed doubles, Tontowi Ahmad-Liliyana Natsir, or familiarly called Owi-Butet, were directly eliminated in the first round of French Open 2015.
"Our strength is not fully recovered after played in Denmark Open 2015. The opponents were also stronger players. Their defense was good," said Butet in Paris, France, as quoted by Public Relations and Social Media Team of Badminton Association Indonesia (PBSI) in a press release, Wednesday (21/10).
In a match that took place on Tuesday (20/10) night local time, Owi-Butet had lost in three games with score 21-16, 17-21, 13-21 for 55 minutes from Japanese doubles, Keigo Sonoda-Naoko Fukuman.
In the second game, Owi-Butet were left behind with score 2-6, 5-12, and was not able to catch up the score of Keigo-Naoko until the end. Owi-Bute weakened again in the third game and were left behind with score 0-6.
"I think the competition is already tight. We could not always win. For us, the effort to maintain a victory is more difficult than reach it," Butet added.
Butet promised to try to maintain focus and confidence for the next game. She targeted to win tickets in Rio Olympic 2016 with Owi.
"This will be a lesson for us. In the first game we can win and play good, but in the second game, our game loosened," said Owi.
The coach, Nova Widianto, said Owi-Butet were less calm and patience to cultivate the ball from Keigo-Naoko. So that both of them wasted all of their energy.
