REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian Foreign Affairs Minister Retno L.P. Marsudi and her Danish counterpart Kristian Jensen held a bilateral meeting at the Pancasila building here on Thursday to discuss ways to enhance cooperation between the two countries.

"This is Danish Foreign Minister Kristian Jensen's first visit to Indonesia since we met in New York some time ago," Retno stated after the bilateral meeting with her Danish counterpart.

She noted that during the meeting, they discussed four main issues related to cooperation in the fields of maritime, interfaith dialog, energy, and education.

"We will strengthen cooperation in the maritime field, ranging from connectivity, ports, and infrastructure to the development of aquaculture; and in the energy sector, we will cooperate in the field of renewable energy," Retno explained.

In the field of education, Indonesia and Denmark have agreed to cooperate in the field of college education as Indonesia is collaborating with 14 universities in Denmark.

In the meantime, Jensen said his visit with Queen of Denmark Margrethe II to Indonesia aims to strengthen partnership between the two countries.

"Indonesia and Denmark are related to each other in the international community. We are maritime nations, and we can learn from each other," Jensen affirmed.

He said Denmark had learnt ways to improve the implementation of activities in interfaith dialog from Indonesia.

Jensen expressed delight on the opportunity to visit the Istiqlal Mosque and meet numerous religious leaders in Indonesia.

"For cooperation in the field of education, I think Denmark can be a good partner to Indonesia. We see Indonesia also has an outstanding education system in place," the Danish foreign minister noted.
