REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, CIREBON -- The Cirebon Immigration Office in West Java has arrested five foreign nationals for failing to produce necessary documents.
"We made the arrests after receiving tip-offs from several parties. We later kept them under surveillance and conducted raids to nab them from October 19 to 23," chief of the Cirebon city immigration office, Eko Budianto, said here on Friday.
Three of the five foreign nationals were from Germany, South Korea and Japan. They were arrested for failing to show their passports, he said.
He said all of them have been sent back to their employer companies.
The immigration office also arrested a Chinese national for not having a visa and a Syrian national for illegal stay, he said.
The Chinese national is being interrogated at the immigration office.
"The Syrian national has been staying in Kuningan district for three years. He is a vegetable seller and has married a local woman," he said.
The Syrian national will most likely be deported to his country for not having the necessary documents, he said.
To date, 366 foreign nationals are staying within the jurisdiction of the Cirebon immigration office.
Of these, 113 are staying in Cirebon district, he said.
