REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian Police continued to investigate cases of land and forest fires that occurred in Sumatra and Kalimantan. Reports related to the cases also continued to increase.
Head of Public Relation of Indonesian Police, Agus Rianto, said currently the investigators handled 276 cases of land and forest fires. It consisted of 216 individuals, 60 companies, and six foreign capital investment.
"It increased from a few days earlier as many as 271 cases," he said, Sunday (1/11).
Agus explained, 111 cases had already been investigating, consisting of 60 individuals and 51 companies.
In addition, 67 cases (59 individuals and eight companies) had entered the first phase of examination. Meanwhile, 67 cases of individuals got into second phase of examination.
"There are 258 suspects in total," Agus added.
Land and forest fires caused smog in Sumatra and Kalimantan. This intruded economic and education activities.
