REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Competition among nations now is becoming increasingly stiffer, and thus, Indonesia should respond to it correctly, President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) noted.
"I want to elaborate on how stiff the competition now is among countries," the president stated while giving directives to the alumni of the National Resilience Institute (Lemhannas) short course 2015 at the State Palace here on Wednesday.
Jokowi remarked that competition and conflict is clearly visible now. Any incident occurring far away can have an influence on Indonesia.
"I would like to cite the example of Greece, which recently faced an economic crisis far away from Indonesia, but it affected our country," Jokowi pointed out.
The Fed's plan to fix the interest rate also had an influence on other countries. Depreciation of the Chinese yuan also had an impact on Indonesia's rupiah currency, he affirmed.
On the occasion, Lemhannas Governor Budi Susilo Soepandji remarked that the participants of the regular short course 2015 of the Lemhannas had just completed their education program and had become the institute's alumni.
