REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Before the kick off of Sudirman Cup, Arema Cronus officially recruited a foreign play maker from Spain, Toni Espinosa. Toni had shown his quality in the trial against Arema U-21.
His performances had not been up, because he just landed to Malang on Saturday (7/11) morning. However, coach of Arema Cronus, Joko Susilo, believed that the player who previously played for the Jordan League could help Arema to win the Sudirman Cup.
He hoped Toni's presence could strengthen the midfield, which is considered essential. Therefore, he asked Toni to quickly adapt, because Arema would play the first match in Sudirman Cup with Gresik United in Kanjuruhan Stadion, Malang, Tuesday (10/11).
"He (Toni) is to strengthen the midfield. I'm sure he can adapt quickly. We'll see tomorrow in a match with Gresik United," he said, Monday (9/11).
Previously, Arema Cronus has released its squad with 29 names of players, including Toni Espinosa. Arema Cronus has lost four players, namely Fabiano Beltrame, Lancine Kone, Morimakan Koïta, and Ahmad Nufiandani.
In Group A, Arema Cronus would again meet Sriwijaya FC. They also would meet another strong team, Persija Jakarta, Gresik United and Persipasi Bandung Raya (PBR). In the last Presidents Cup Tournament, Arema was only in third rank by defeating Mitra Kukar.
