REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, YOGYAKARTA -- Vice Governor of Yogyakarta, Kanjeng Gusti Pangeran Adipati Aryo (KGPAA) Paku Alam IX (77 years old) passed away in Dr Sardjito Hospital, Yogyakarta, Saturday (21/11).
"He passed away at around 04:00 pm in Sardjito hospital because of sick," said Trah Pakualaman Hudyana Coordinator, Kusumoparastho, to Republika.co.id, Saturday (21/11).
According to Kusumoparastho, Paku Alam IX who has birth name BRMH Ambarkusumo, had been undergoing treatment at the hospital since last week. He was born at 7th May 1938 and was named as KGPAA Paku Alam IX since 26th May 1999, after replacing his father, Paku Alam VIII.
From his marriage in 1966, he was blessed with three sons and was appointed as Vice Governor of Yogyakarta to assist Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X in 2003.
