REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, DEPOK -- Rezky M. Noor, a member of the Depok Regional Legislative Assembly's Commission D, hoped for an improvement in the welfare of teachers, so that they can impart knowledge more enthusiastically.
"The welfare of the teachers who excel should be acknowledged and lauded as they contribute by educating the younger generation to build the nation's future," Rezky affirmed on Wednesday.
He believes that teachers are the agents of change who impart knowledge and provide the necessary guidance, so that the students can realize higher achievements.
He noted that the role of teachers is increasingly important in educating the nation, and hence, the livelihood of these so-called unsung heroes should be improved.
"Teachers should not solely be considered as educators in schools as they play a vital role by helping students accomplish higher achievements," he remarked.
Rezky acknowledged that teaching is a noble profession, emphasizing that he could not imagine a life without the services of teachers as he probably would not have become a legislator.
He further noted that the welfare of part-time teachers should be prioritized as the compensation they receive is often delayed for months, so the school principals must seek a bailout to pay them.
