REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) was scheduled to do a soft launch of Jakarta-Bandung fast train in the mid of December 2015. Commissioner of PT Pilar Sinergy BUMN Indonesia, Sahala Lumban Gaol, ensured the launch would be held at Walini Region, Cikalong Wetan District, West Bandung regency.
"Soft launching by the President in Walini will be in this December," said Sahala, at Gedung Sate, Bandung, Wednesday (2/12).
Sahala said, Walini was chosen because it would be the largest station of the project. Special envoy of Minister of SOEs has also been reviewing Walini.

Director of PT Indonesia-China Fast Train (KCIC), Hanggoro Wiryawan Budi, said route of Jakarta-Bandung fast train has a length of 150 kilometers and the trains have a maximum speed of 250 km/h. Jakarta-Bandung that previously had to be taken in two to three hours by road, then would be taken in 30 minutes by fast train.
"The fast train is expected to reduce congestion and improved mobility of the people," he added.
Hanggoro revealed, the construction of Jakarta-Bandung fast train would spend about 5.5 billion US dollars or Rp 72 trillion. West Java became pioneers of this mass transit project.
"It's a new episode of transportation in Indonesia," Hanggoro said.
