REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Bank Indonesia would asked business community and investors to use the yuan or renminbi after IMF set the yuan as currency of special drawing rights (SDR) or global currency.
Governor of Bank Indonesia. Agus Martowardojo, welcomed the yuan to become currency of SDR, because trade relations between Indonesia and China was quite large. Imports from China to Indonesia was in the range of 30 billion US dollars and exports to China was about 14 billion US dollars.
"The yuan will be an international currency. We understand Indonesia and China's exports and imports are still using the US dollar," Agus said, at the headquarters of Bank Indonesia, in Jakarta, Friday (4/12).

Agus explained, exporters and importers would understand the yuan which has become currency of SDR or international currencies, is freely owned by the community, especially for trade and investment.
Later, Indonesian trade with China could use renmnibi and rupiah. That would make trading be more efficient. Over the years, trade relations between Indonesia and China were using US dollars.
He stated, the determination of the yuan as currency of SDR was at the right time. He saw the yuan as one of stronger currencies of the world and many countries were making the yuan as reserves.
