REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BULELENG -- Titab Ularan reservoir, a mega project which was built from 2011 to 2014, was finally launched and began to be filled with water (impounding), on Sunday (13/12).
Interestingly, besides the opening was attended by Minister of Public Works and Public Housing Affairs Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs AA Puspayoga, and Regent of Buleleng Agus Suradnyana, there was present PDI-P Chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri. Reservoir which was spent Rp 486 billion of state budget was done by PT Nindya Karya and PT Brantas Abibraya.
"Impounding will be done in the next 2-3 months. The water comes from Saba river," said Director General of Water Resources, Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing Affairs, Mudjiadi, Monday (14/12).
Mudjiadi explained, Titab reservoir was intended for drought and flood prevention, especially in Seririt, Buleleng regency. Titab reservoir would irrigate irrigation area of Saba and Puluran covering 1,794.82 hectares to enhance the region's cropping intensity of 169 percent to 275 percent.
It was to meet the needs of raw water of 350 liters per second in three districts namely Seririt, Banjar and Busungbiu in Buleleng. It was also adding electric energy reserves of 2 x 0.75 MW for Busungbiu, then as water conservation and tourism areas.
Titab reservoir capacities reached 12 million m3 and made the reservoir as largest reservoir in Bali. Other reservoirs in Bali were Palasari, Grogak, Telaga Tunjung, Benel, and Muara.
"After this reservoir, there will be construction of two other reservoirs in Bali, namely Telaga Waja in Karangasem and Sidan in Badung," he added.
