REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo has requested the people to tone down the Christmas 2015 and the New Year 2016 celebrations, according to Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung.
"The president has urged the public to not go overboard while celebrating Christmas and New Year," Anung stated at the State Palace here on Monday.
He said the government will step up security ahead of Christmas and New Year by deployed more on-field security personnel.
However, he affirmed that the public could also participate in maintaining security by assisting the military and police personnel.
"We hear that some mass organizations will help the military and police personnel to ensure security during Christmas and New Year," Anung added.
