REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Indonesian government invested Rp 18 trillion in contract of Cost Sharing Agreement (CSA) program development of fighter aircraft KF-X/IF-X conducted jointly by Indonesia and South Korea.
"A total of Rp 18 trillion that what we spend," said Defense Minister, Ryamizard Ryacudu, in Jakarta, Thursday (7/1).
The amount was 20 percent of the total cost of development project of fighter aircraft KF-X/IF-X, in which South Korean would finance 80 percent of the total project. The value of these investments, Ryamizard continued, only for the cost of making three units of aircraft prototypes.
While two squadron aircraft KF-X/IF-X manufacturing plan to Indonesia was scheduled for completion in 2025 and would be financed by different funds. Two aircraft prototypes would be made in South Korea and one aircraft prototype in Indonesia.
"The aircraft manufacturing involved scientists and engineers from Indonesia," he added.
He also said that all components of the aircraft was using South Korea technology, without involving companies from other countries such as the United States or France. Ryamizard stressed that Indonesia should be able to create their own fighter aircraft production, and stop buying from other countries in order to improve air defense capabilities.
The Government through Ministry of Defense signed a contract "Cost Share Agreement" (CSA) with Korea Aerospace Industries (KAI) to mark the beginning of the implementation of second stage of program development fighter aircraft KF-X/IF-X between Indonesia and South Korea.
