REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Social Affairs Minister Khofifah Indar Parawansa emphasized the need for all relevant parties to seriously respond to the presence of certain groups that follow radical ideology.
"We do not ever feel secure as members of radical groups move from one point to another and quietly learn the art of making bombs," the minister noted in a written statement received here on Monday.
Parawansa affirmed that Indonesia was established by the founding fathers on the basis of diversity that encompasses ethnicity, religion, culture, traditions, and customs.
She stressed that diversity is a necessity for the people of Indonesia in terms of ethnicity, religion, culture, traditions, and customs.
In order to maintain diversity, the minister called on all elements and components of the nation to work hand in hand to create a conducive atmosphere and to nurture a sense of peace and compassion toward others.
"Maintaining diversity shall help to establish synergy among all elements and components of the nation, especially for the Muslims in Indonesia," she emphasized.
According to Parawansa, none of the religions can justify any heinous acts carried out to spread terror by crushing and violating human rights.
Last Thursday, terrorist bombings rocked Jalan M.H. Thamrin in Central Jakarta. As a result of the terrorist acts, seven people died, including four perpetrators of the bombings.
