REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Recently, the price of chicken and beef meat jumped. Cabinet secretary Pramono Anung said President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has instructed Minister of Trade and Minister of Agriculture to observe and study the causes of rising prices of those basic necessities.
Furthermore, the two ministers were asked to find a solution that can immediately reduce the price of chicken and beef meat. Government surmised, one of the factors that made meat prices soared was the cartels game.
"Yesterday President Jokowi has requested the Minister of Agriculture and Trade Minister to prepare and learn, so that soon a decision was made on this day," Pramono said at the Presidential Palace, Wednesday (27/1).
He explained so far the government has made a policy that cuts the chain of meat cartel network. Pramono suspected, the cartel planned new strategies to make the price of meat expensive like before.
Therefore, President Jokowi will hold a special meeting to discuss this problem. Jokowi and the relevant ministers will analyze the principal case and seek a way out.
