REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- The National Police on Wednesday launched a smart phone-based application called, "Stop Terrorisme" as a platform for people to report and gather data on suspected terror activities in the neighborhood.
"Using this application, users can directly report if they come across any act of terrorism or suspected terrorists in their neighborhood," the developer of the app, Adji Pratama, said here at the National Police Headquarters on Wednesday.
The basic function is to collect complaints from the citizens.
Users have to include their identification number and phone number in the app when filing a complaint.
The report will be directly communicated to the Police's public relations department as per the location.
The application also has an emergency number which can be dialed anytime.
It is also linked with Twitter to enable the users to report using the social media.
Moreover, users can also view and read the latest news on terrorism using this application.
There is also an online forum where users and police officers can discuss an issue.
The Stop Terrorisme application can be downloaded from Google Playstore or Amazon store for free.
"The apps are compatible for Android smartphones and Blackberry 10," he said.
On January 14, six bombs had exploded at the MH. Thamrin Boulevard in front of a Starbucks coffee shop and a police traffic booth.
At least eight people were killed and 20 others injured in the attacks.
Jakarta Metropolitan Police Command Chief Inspector General Tito Karnavian has confirmed that the terrorists who had orchestrated the attack in Jakarta were linked to the ISIS terror group.
As per him, the ISIS group had changed its strategy. It earlier operated only in Syria and Iraq, but after their leader, Abubakar Baghdadi, ordered them to spread their activities outside Iraq and Syria, they had begun setting up ISIS terror modules across the world, he explained.
In Southeast Asia, a figure is keen to set up a "Khatibah Nusantara," and he wants to be the leader of the ISIS group in the region.
"Of late, a rivalry for leadership has developed. In the Philippines, they have set up a terror module in South Philippines, and now, multiple people are competing for leadership. In this connection, one of the ISIS figures launched these attacks. Meanwhile, we have identified the group, and we are still tracking them down," Tito affirmed.
