REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SURABAYA -- Most traders grouped in Kompag have rejected the grand opening of New Pasar Turi Market in Surabaya on March 18 on the ground a legal dispute over the market has not been settled.

As long as the case has not been settled the traders will not move to the New Pasar Turi market, Kompag Chairman Syukur said here on Sunday.

"For the time being we will continue to sell goods in the temporary accommodation site," he said.

He noted that the legal dispute over Pasar Turi is still being processed at the East Java provincial police.

In addition, the traders have also agreed to reject PT Gala Bumi Perkasa (PT GBP) to manage New Pasar Turi on the ground it has levied traders very much.

The company also has not yet secured an operational permit as it does not hold a certificate for 2.3 hectares of land on which the New Pasar Turi is built.

After all, he did not object to the developers holding a meeting to familiarize traders with the operation of New Pasar Turi on February 17. However, no traders will not attend the meeting, he said.

"If they (the developer) need traders, they can come to the command post at the temporary accommodation site," he said.
