REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, SERANG -- The Banten provincial police arrested 96 people suspected of being involved in 65 cases of drug abuse in the past couple of months.

"All the suspects in drugs related cases are being proceeded against according to the law," drug detective director of the Banten provincial police, Senior Commissioner Asep Syafrudin, said here on Friday.

Banten province is in a state of emergency when it comes to drugs, with the number of drug-related cases increasing every year.

Last year, 372 people were arrested on drug charges.

The suspects were arrested in January and February this year. Among them, 67 were drug traffickers and 29 were drug abusers.

"We continue to work hard to fight against drug trafficking because it threatens the nation," he said.
