REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, Jakarta -- Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama extended his congratulations to President Joko Widodo over the birth of his first grandson on Thursday morning.
"Congratulations. I share his happiness over the birth of his first grandson. A first male grandchild means good," he stated at the City Hall on Thursday.
The governor, who is often addressed as Ahok, admitted to not yet having the opportunity to personally convey his congratulations due to unfinished work.
"I have heard about the birth of the first grandchild of Pak (Mr) Jokowi (Joko Widodo), but I have not met him to personally convey my greetings. Just now, I had to inaugurate an Integrated Children-Friendly Public Area (RPTRA)," he revealed.
Basuki said he planned to send flowers to Solo (Central Java) as a congratulatory gesture," he added.
President Jokowi's first grandson was born at 9 a.m. local time in Solo from his eldest son, Gibran Rakabuming and his wife Selvi Ananada who married on June 11, 2015.
Basuki was deputy when Jokowi was governor of Jakarta. Basuki became the governor after Jokowi was elected president.
