REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- Social Affairs Minister Khofifah Indar Paranwansa has said a total of 126,000 needy elderly people will receive social aid, starting June 2016.
"In 2015, we could only extend such social aid to 29,000 elderly people, and it amounted to Rp200 thousand per month," the minister stated, adding that those attaining the age of 70 and above were considered as the needy elderly people.
In addition, severely disabled groups are also expected to receive this social aid, she pointed out.
"Last year, as many as 22,000 disabled people received Rp300,000 per month each. This upcoming June, the social aid will cover 163,000 disabled people," Minister Khofifah noted.
According to her, social aid amounts are remitted once every four months for elderly and disabled persons. Each of the disabled families receives aid every three months.
The minister further informed that the budget allocated for social protection programs of the Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) in 2016 has reached Rp9.98 trillion or more, compared with Rp5.6 trillion in the previous year.
