REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MEDAN -- Police have named five people as suspects in the case of murder of tax personnel in North Sumatra's Nias Island District who had gone to collect tax arrears.
Key suspect in the murder case, identified by his initials AL, is a 45-year-old rubber trader, Adjunct Senior Commissioner MP Naingolan said here on Wednesday night.
The other four suspects are AZ (17), a resident of Hilihambawa village in Lahewa Timur sub-district of Gunungsitoli city; DL (22), a resident of Dahana village in Alasa sub-district of Nias Utara District; MG (18), resident of Hilimbaruzo in Ma'u sub-district of Nias District; and BL (43), resident of Dahana village in Alasa sub-district of Nias Utara District.
As per police investigations, the suspect turned crazy when tax office personnel informed him he owed Rp14 billion in tax arrears pending since 2010, and ended up murdering the two tax personnel.
However, the police were yet to receive information about the role of four employees of AL who too are suspects in the murder case.
"The suspects are being questioned in Nias police precinct," Naingolan stated.
Both victims from the local Sibolga tax office, who were murdered on Tuesday at 11.30 a.m. local time, were identified as Parado Toga Fransriano Siahaan and Sozanolo Lase.
The murderer later surrendered at the police station of Nias Island District.
