REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Thousands of workers will stage a rally in front of the Jakarta governor's office to voice their rejection to the Jakarta Bay reclamation project, forced evictions of slum dwellers, and low wages.
"Similar demonstrations will also be held outside the governor offices in other provinces such as East Java, Central Java, Aceh, North Sumatra, Gorontalo, and West Sulawesi," Said Iqbal, president of the Indonesian Labor Union Confederation, noted in a statement here, Wednesday.
The demonstrations will be a warm-up to the main rally scheduled to be organized to observe May Day on May 1.
"On May Day, the workers will voice three demands and declare a mass organization for the workers and people," he noted.
The workers will also protest in front of the offices of the Constitutional Court and Supreme Court, seeking a revocation of Government Regulation No. 78 of 2015 on Wages.
