REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received the management of the Gajah Mada University Alumni Big Family (Kagama) at the Merdeka Palace to discuss national reforms, particularly regarding the jargon used by Indonesian politicians.

"It is to bring about a shift in the jargon used by politicians and to transform bureaucrats into statesmen, so that our enemies can be identified and to ensure they are not among our own group," Kagama Chairman Ganjar Pranowo remarked on Thursday.

According to Pranowo, this step was taken to orient the Indonesian people's outlook, so they no longer view citizens as competitors but compete with other developed nations instead.

Ganjar explained that the second issue to be discussed was related to the need to showcase the huge potential of the nation.

"The president hopes each regional head would focus on the existing areas of potential in their regions," remarked Ganjar, who also serves as governor of Central Java.

He said President Jokowi and Kagama also discussed ways in which universities can contribute in implementing the long-term national strategy in the economic, political, social, legal, and cultural fields.

The head of state also suggested that Kagama should invite several state universities to discuss the current national issues.

In addition, Kagama is expected to supervise and offer solutions to several issues, such as deregulation of the economy that had been launched by the government.
