REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BATAM -- Chief of Batam administration body (BP Batam) Hatanto Reksodipoetro received a courtesy call from Canadian Ambassador to Indonesia Donald Bobias who wished to know the process of investment facilities in the city.
"We wish to know more about investment facilities in Batam, and this information will later be shared with the Canadian businessmen who intend to invest (in Batam)," BP Batam said in a statement here on Friday, adding it was the first visit of the ambassador to Batam.
The envoy was interested to know about how convenient is it to obtain an investment license and carry out export and import procedures, given that Canada and Indonesia have a long established cooperation.
Canada is seeking an Indonesian company capable of supplying cocoa powder material.
Batam currently has some chocolate industries, focusing on cocoa export products.
According to Reksodipoetro, Canada and Batam established cooperation in 2002.
Many Canadian products have entered the Indonesian market, such as cosmetics. On the other hand, many Indonesian products were also accepted by the Canadian market, such as paper, clothing, sports shoes and creative industry products.
Reksodipoetro guaranteed that the licensing procedures and online system will continue to be improved expeditiously.
