REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, BANDUNG -- Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Rizal Ramli has said the administration of President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has a clear vision to use natural resources for the people optimally.
"For that purpose, the paradigm of development must change, and it should no longer be mainly for exports. Instead, we must develop our processing industry," Minister Ramli said while delivering a key speech before participants of the Indonesian Youth Speak Summit 2016 here on Saturday.
Fish caught from the sea must not be immediately exported, but should be processed first to have added value, he said.
He also said the country should not suck up gas and export it in the form of LNG because LNG exports gave profits worth only US$2.5 billion per year.
The Youth Speak Summit 2016 was organized in cooperation with the Association Internationale et Studiant Sociale Economic Commerciale (AIESEC) as part of activities to commemorate the Asian and African Conference.
