REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Visiting Chinese Deputy Prime Minister Yang Jiechi met with Indonesia's Coordinating Minister for Political, Security and Legal Affairs, Luhut Pandjaitan, here on Monday.
"This is the third meeting with Mr Yang and I hope it will help resolve Indonesia's problems with China," Luhut said at his office.
This came following a meeting between the Chinese officials, President Joko Widodo and Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Darmin Nasution earlier in the day.
He said the Indonesian government would strengthen cooperation with China and the two countries have agreed to settle any problem in a wise manner.
Yang Jiechi informed he had discussed political and security issues in the meeting with the Indonesian coordinating minister.
"Today, we reached consensus on various aspects to increase cooperation between China and Indonesia. Ten days ago, Mr Luhut had visited China within the framework of establishing a high-level bilateral mechanism in the field of politics, law and security. This morning, we also had a high-level economic dialogue," he stated.
He said he was glad to be able to cooperate in the economic and trade fields with Indonesia and hoped this would help Indonesia's infrastructure development, especially in the eastern region of Papua.
