Drug abusers in NTB reach 55 thousands people

REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, MATARAM -- The Province National Narcotics Agency (BNNP) West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) said the number of drug abusers during 2015 reached 55 359 people, or 1.6 percent of the population in NTB.

While at the national level the number of drug abusers reach 4.7 million, or about 2.20 percent.

"Drug abusers in NTB 1.6 percent, or about 55.359 in 2015," said Chief of BNNP NTB, Kombes Sriyanto told reporters in Mataram, NTB on Thursday (12/5).

Meanwhile, drug abusers are rehabilitated until April reach 268 people. The condition of the inadequate rehabilitation center place is one of the obstacles to doing drug rehabilitation efforts to abusers.

Finally, some drug abusers rehabilitated at the mental hospital (RSJ) and Bhayangkara Hospital.

He said that the provincial government has prepared land for rehabilitation. However, there is no budget from National Narcotics Agency (BNN) to build the rehabilitation center. Including some districts that have been agree land as a rehabilitation center and demanded to the BNN but has not been follow up.

"(The) rehabilitation is not sufficient, so some renovation at RSJ as many as 10 people and is always full and in Bhayangkara two patient just for women. Some were sent to the Lido, Sukabumi, West Java," he said.

Sriyanto said, the absence of BNN offices in seven districts/cities was relatively a barrier in efforts to run the drug eradication program. Nevertheless, BNNP continue to help.

So far, there are no officials’ government in the province indicated abusing drugs.
