REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- After moratorium of reclamation project from central government in Jakarta Bay, project of Island G that handled by PT Muara Wisesa Samudra (a subsidiary of Agung Podomoro Group) now guarded by strangers. It revealed when the fishermen of Muara Angke visit to that island.
Secretary of DPW Unity of Traditional Fishermen Indonesia (KNTI) Jakarta, Kuat Wibisono said, he with some fishermen Muara Angke, accompanied by a team from the National Human Rights Commission visited the island of G, Friday (13/5). The purpose of their arrival there at that time was to documented the current condition of the reclamation project area.
"However, when we got on the island of G, we were expelled by two foreign officers, tall and big guards. That only the foreigner, while the other is black," said Kuat to Republika.co.id, Sunday (15/5).
He said that team of four fishermen Muara Angke and three representatives of the National Human Rights Commission take some pictures in Island of G. However, after a clash with foreign officers, the group finally decide to leave the island.
"It was obviously very ironic. Why can foreigners expel us who Indonesian citizens in our country," he said.
Minister of Environment and Forestry (LHK) Siti Nurbaya has sealed the Island C, D, and G on Wednesday (11/5). The sealing as a follow-up of the government's moratorium on reclamation projects in the Bay of Jakarta.
Siti said the construction of artificial islands was stopped because the number of violations found by the agencies. Among the violations was the non-compliance of environmental impact assessment (Amdal) by the developers in the implementation of the project.
"Physical violations must be corrected and Amdal must also be changed. So, an environmental permit from the Governor of Jakarta should be changed, " Siti added.
