REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, KARO -- The death of hot ash clouds from Mount Sinabung in Karo, North Sumatra province increases. Data from the Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Karo, about nine people become victims of the hot cloud.
Six people passed away and three other critically with burns of hot clouds. All the victims are now hospitalized in Efarina Etaham Kabanjahe.
"All of them are residents of the Desa Simpang Empat, Karo District, which is in the red zone when the incident Sinabung erupts with hot clouds on Saturday (21/5) at 04.48 pm," said Head of Data Information and Public Relation of National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) Sutopo Purwo Nugroho in his press conference on Sunday (22/5).

A joint SAR team of army, police, BPBD, Red Cross, volunteers, and the community continue to search for survivors by combing the houses and gardens. But, it is not known exactly how many people were in the village when the incident happened. Actually, there should be no activity. But some people remain gardening, staying also manage their gardens and fields. Economic are the main factors that led to the villagers remains to violate the prohibition to entry in Gamber village. Searches were done with due regard to the threat of eruption of Mount Sinabung.
Gamber village is located at radius of 4 kilometers on the southeast side of crater Mount of Sinabung, and stated as dangerous area or the red zone. In Gamber village, there are prohibition of public activities because dangerous threats such as hot clouds, lava, bombs, lapillus, ash and other material from the eruption.
