REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA - Jakarta Governor Basuki Tjahaja Purnama (Ahok) finally decided to cancel relocation of settlement in Luar Batang, Penjaringan, North Jakarta. Local residents expressed their happiness with the Ahok's decision.
"We are very grateful, because we want relocation stopped," said community leader of Luar Batang, Mansur Amin, to Republika.co.id, Tuesday (24/5).
Nevertheless, he said, residents of Luar Batang keep to struggle against the Jakarta Provincial Government. He continued, the settler still feel worry about the possibility of further relocation plan.
"Moreover, sometimes, it is difficult to believe what Ahok say. His statements are often changing, so it seems he is not a committed leader,” said Mansur.
Therefore, Mansur said, the people of Luar Batang in the future will remain guarding their village from the threat of relocation.
"As long as Ahok still in power, we will continue on full alert for 24 hours every day," he said.
Previously, Ahok stated, there is no desire from the provincial government to relocate settlements around the Mosque of Jami 'Keramat, Luar Batang. He added the plan in the region has been finished.
"Discourse of control (the houses of citizens) near Luar Batang Mosque already finished,” Ahok told reporters at Jakarta City Hall, Monday (23/5).
