REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA -- Minister of Environment and Forestry (LHK), Siti Nurbaya stressed, all forms of wildlife crime is cross-border crimes on the human and ecosystem.

She said that statement in meeting with the Division of Environmental Policy Implementation (DEPI) United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) in Nairobi, Kenya.

"Trade in wildlife must be fought," he said in a release on Wednesday (25/5). Indonesia, she said, has variety of strategic efforts in handle illegal trade wildlife and wildlife product.

"Indonesian President Joko Widodo has launched a national movement for the conservation of wildlife on April 14, 2016," Siti said.

As universal human heritage of present and future generations, the national park integrated in issues of biodiversity and human welfare.

For mega-biodiversity countries, Indonesia has increasing regulation and law enforcement.

Including by tightening gate of wildlife exit by strengthening international cooperation. Such as through multilateral forums like CITES, APEC, UNODC and the ASEAN’s Wildlife Enforcement Network, and bilateral with the Europe Union, the United States, British, Australia, and Canada.

"Community participation through civil society organizations is an important aspect," she added.

She also encouraged strong international effort to fight illegal wildlife trade as extraordinary.
