REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, TEMBILAHAN -- Total of six houses in Indragiri Hilir Regency, Riau province was hit by landslides that occurred on Thursday around 00.30 am local time.
"Landslip was happened in Buluk Street village of Tanah Merah," Public Relations of Indragiri Hilir police Second Police Inspector (Ipda) Heriman Putra stated in Tembilahan, Thursday (26/5).
Sixth homes affected by landslide are owned by seven families comprising of 23 people. The house owners were affected by landslides that belonged to Abu Bakar (65 years), Srikandi (64), Bidah (60), Amat Mono (62), Agus (38) and Mohammad Yusuf (52). Chronology of the landslide at around 00.30 pm when a witness named Heriyanto (42) hear the sound of board collapse from his home. Then he came out from the house and saw the house that was across of his house started to collapsed into the river, then the witness yelled avalanche, and then local residents out from the house and help the victims. He added, no casualties in this incident, but the loss is estimated at Rp 750 million. Allegedly landslide disaster caused by abrasion of river water.
"The houses hit by landslide is located along the riverbank Kuala Enok and at the time of the landslide disaster happened, the water is recede," he added.
Until now, he continued, the team from Indragiri Hilir regional Disaster Mitigation Agency ( (BPBD), local administrative of Tanah Merah,Tanah Merah police, and the local community are collecting data on the identity of the homes owner and evacuate the items belonging to the victim who could still be saved.
"Then the victim is currently placed in the homes of relatives and home societies around the landslides area," he explained.
Some of the efforts made by the police such as help the victims to save the belongings of the victims, police setting police line, noted the witness, identifying the names of the victims and establish aid post.
