REPUBLIKA.CO.ID, JAKARTA –- State-owned Electricity Company (PLN) gave signal to adjust tariff for 12 groups of user. Without mentioning new tariff, PLN said the increase of tariff for June 2016 will not be much.
President Director of PLN Sofyan Basir explained the increase of tariff this time because of rupiah fluctuation against the US dollar. Although world oil price remained below 50 US dollar per barrel, Sofyan added that electricity tariff calculation have little impact on parameter of world oil price or more specifically on Indonesia’s crude oil (ICP).
"Increase of electricity's tariff not much. Because fuel component is very small, the exchange rates give impact. IPP (independent power producers) we pay tax with US dollar," Sofyan said at the headquarters of PLN, Monday (30/5).
PLN said the raise of electricity tariff this time still view number of variables, including the exchange rate with the US dollar, the price of Indonesian crude oil or ICP, and the amount of inflation in March to April.
